i tried a few things with the fresh chickpeas, and my favorite by far was charring them. i didn’t really have high expectations for them, but they were great. they’re even more fun to eat than edamame because the pods are filled mostly with air and they pop as you squeeze the chickpea out.

fresh chickpeas in the pod
3/4t olive oil
1/4t salt
freshly squeezed lemon juice

these are so easy i couldn’t believe they were so good. just rinse the chickpeas (my cat may or may not have snuggled with them on the table), pan fry them in the oil until the pods have a bunch of blistery black spots, salt them and squeeze on a little lemon. eat!
